的 Cutting Edge® Program at Edgewood College was piloted in 2007. It was the first program at a four-year college in Wisconsin to offer a fully inclusive college experience for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Since its inception, the program has continued to grow and offers individualized wrap-around services to support students in academics, student housing, social experiences, and practicums/internships. We currently support 28 students per academic year. Our program has since expanded to include two additional programs: Pre-College and 校友 Program. As part of Edgewood College’s Dominican tradition, students learn the values of justice, 同情, 真理, 社区, and partnership. Through these values, students are given the opportunity to experience civic engagement both on campus and in the Madison 社区.
This program is for high school students with intellectual and developmental disabilities who are 16 to 21 years old and have a desire to go to college in the future. This program is designed to provide exposure through a fully inclusive experience on our campus.
Participants will learn about:
Our 校友 Program supports graduates living independently in the 社区 after their Cutting Edge college experience. Our alumni are employed 3 times higher compared to national average rates for people with disabilities.
This program connects Cutting Edge alumni with each other through events and educational opportunities. 的 校友 Program hosts annual events, which engage our alumni in the Edgewood College and Cutting Edge communities. 除了, the 校友 Program offers a larger scope of services including facilitated annual life planning, goal tracking, residential supports, vocational preparation, and referrals to trusted 社区 resources.
